Spiced Lemon Tea

What does winter mean to you? Apart from the holiday season and snow, it also comes with the bouts of common cold, cough and not to forget the flu 😦 !

Keeping yourself and your family immune during this chilly weather is a task in itself! One round of cold is enough to get your energy meter down.

When under the weather, you will find the remedies right in your kitchen pantry! The basic aromatic spices are filled with medicinal properties.

The below recipe is your chai/tea infused with  ingredients rich in antioxidants, antibacterial and vitamin C. This will be your favorite drink during winters! Trust me!

P.S: You can skip the tea powder if you are not a fan chai!

RECIPE:

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 5-8 minutes

Makes: 3 cups

INGREDIENTS:

Cumin Seeds – 1 Tsp

Cloves – 3 to 4

Peppercorns – 1/2 Tsp

Cinnamon Stick – 1/2 inch

Ginger – 1 inch chopped

Tea powder – 1 Tsp

Turmeric – a pinch

Honey – as needed

Lemon – as needed

Water – 3 cups

METHOD:

In a pestle and mortar, add the cumin seeds, cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon, and ginger. Crush well and keep it aside.

In a saucepan, add 2 to 3 cups of water, crushed spices, turmeric and tea powder.

Boil well for about 5-6 minutes.

Strain into a teacup, stir in the required quantity of honey and lemon. Mix well.

Enjoy hot on a cold winter day.
