Chilli Paneer

Paneer is a hot favourite for most Indians. A bowl of soft paneers floating in a bed of masalas is a sight to behold. 🙂

Be it an appetizer or gravy or rice. Paneer always wins!

This recipe is one such popular paneer dish – Chilli Paneer – Spicy, tangy and delicious 🙂

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes

Serves: 3-4

INGREDIENTS:

Paneer / Cottage cheese – 360g – cubed

Red onions – 1 – chopped finely

Bell Peppers – 1 – chopped finely

Green chillies – 2 to 3 – slit lengthwise

Garlic – 2 cloves – chopped finely

Corn Flour – 4 tbsp

Rice flour – 1 tbsp

All purpose flour – 1 tbsp

Red Chilli powder – 1 tsp

Tandoori Masala – 1 tsp

Vinegar (synthetic) – 1 to 2 tbsp

Soy Sauce – 1 tbsp

Red chilli sauce – 1 to 2 tbsp (adjust according to the spice level needed)

Oil – needed for shallow fry

Salt – to taste

Water – about a cup

METHOD:

Prepare the coating for paneer by mixing corn flour, all-purpose flour, rice flour, tandoori masala, red chilli powder and salt with enough water to for a batter like consistency.

Now heat enough oil in a wide bottomed pan. Dip the cubed paneer in the corn flour mix and shallow fry till Golden Brown.

Drain on a paper towel and keep it aside.

In the same pan, fry the chopped onions, garlic, green chillies and bell pepper.

Sauté for 4-5 minutes before adding the vinegar, soy sauce, red chilli sauce and salt.

*Adjust the sauces as per your preference of taste.

Sauté till the sauce thickens. Then, add the fried paneer. Mix well but gently.

Garnish with coriander leaves or some spring onions.

Serve hot with flavoured rice or roti or with a hot cup of tea 🙂
