After the over dosage of sweets and specialties for Diwali, I am sure every household is now trying to get back to ‘simple food’ 🙂
So here is a recipe of Mixed Dal Fry – a light and protein filled side with rice or roti.

INGREDIENTS:
Masoor Dal – ½ cup
Toor Dal – ¼ Cup
Moong Dal – a handful
Tomato – 1 big – chopped finely
Onion – 1 small – chopped finely
Ginger – ½ inch
Garlic – 1-2 cloves – chopped finely
Green chillies – 2 – chopped finely
Curry leaves – few
FOR TEMPERING:
Cooking oil – 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp

METHOD:
Rinse the mixed dals in water. Add a pinch of turmeric, ½ tsp of ghee and pressure cook with enough water for 2-3 whistles.

Once it is cool, mash the dal well and keep it aside.
In a deep bottomed vessel, heat oil and add the cumin seeds.

Once the cumin seeds splutter, add the chopped green chillies, ginger and garlic. Sauté well.
Now add the chopped onions and tomatoes. Sauté till onions are translucent and tomatoes are slightly mushy.
Now add the cooked dal ,a cup of water, turmeric, hing (asafoetida) and salt.
Bring to boil.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with chapathi / Roti or rice.
