The below recipe works best for days when you have a runny nose and itchy throat.

Mint Leaves – a handful
Coriander leaves – a handful (make sure the coriander leaves does not overpower the mint aroma)
Grated Coconut – ½ cup
Ginger – ½ inch
Peppercorns – ½ tsp
Tomatoes – 1 – chopped finely
Green chillies – 2 – slit vertically
Tamarind Paste – 1 tbsp
Jaggery – 1 tsp
Salt – as per taste
Ghee – 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds / Jeera – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – few
Grind the mint leaves, coriander leaves, peppercorns and coconut together into a fine paste.
In a deep bottomed vessel, add the ground paste with 2 to 3 cups of water (more or less based on the consistency of the rasam you need)
Add tomatoes, green chillies, tamarind paste, turmeric powder, jaggery and salt. Boil well for 8-10 minutes.
Turn off heat and prepare the tempering using jeera and curry leaves.
Add to the rasam and serve hot with rice.
