“I cook for the love of food and for the love of feeding people” – This is true about me and my passion for cooking! I do not cook fancy meals, but I enjoy a simple meal when accompanied by loved ones. Our dining area is a favorite place in the house for us to bond with friends over delicious snacks/meal or even a simple adrak wali chai!
I have been away from my blog, social networking sites past few months and that is because I was spending time with people back home in India and then some wonderful time with friends/family here at home. All along, I have never been away from my passion – cooking and photography 🙂
Here is an addition to the list of easy day-to-day recipes. Tomato Gojju (curry) which I learned from one of my aunts during my visit to India. This curry goes really well with dosas and chapathis. Go give it a try!
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20-25 minutes
Serves : 3 to 4 people
Tomatoes – 4 to 5
Curry Leaves – few
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 Tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Red Chilli powder – 1 Tsp
Oil – 2 Tbsp
For the powder:
Cumin Seeds – 1/4 cup
Fenugreek Seeds – 1/4 cup
In a pan, dry roast the cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds separately until golden brown.
Once cool, grind into fine powder and keep aside.
In a wide bottomed pan, heat 2 tbsp oil. Add Mustard seeds and urad dal.
Fry till the mustard seeds splutter and then add some curry leaves.
Then, add the chopped tomatoes and mix well.
Add salt and a cup of water. Mix well and allow to boil.
Now, add the chilli powder and the dry roasted powder. Mix well.
Cook till the tomatoes are mushy and cooked well.
Once done, garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve with hot Dosas/rotis/chapathis.
