If you are looking for an easy no cook recipe to fulfil your evening chaat craving, you surely should try ‘Tomato slice Chaat’. It’s easy, fresh and delectable.
This chaat is quite famous in Mysore and Bangalore. It’s a no cook, no gas recipe with all raw veggies as ingredients.

This recipe requires a total of 4 main ingredients. They are
1. Green Chutney
2. Puffed Rice Mix*
3. Powder mix – salt, red chilli powder and a little chaat masala.
4. Vegetable mix: Shredded carrot, shredded radish and chopped cilantro mix
( I will be explaining the sub processes involved in putting together each of these ingredients)
INGREDIENTS:
For Green Chutney /Coriander mint chutney:
Coriander leaves – 1 bunch
Mint Leaves / Pudina – ½ bunch
Green Chillies – 4 to 5
Ginger – ½ inch
Salt
Sugar – ¼ tsp

Method: Blend everything together into a fine paste, if required add a little water. You can store it in a glass jar and store it in the refrigerator for future use.

Puffed Rice mix:
Puffed rice – 1 bowl
For tempering:
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – ½ tsp
Groundnuts / peanuts – few
Curry leaves – few
Garlic – 1 clove finely chopped
Green chillies finely chopped
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Method: In a pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds and urad dal, sauté till the seeds splutter. Now add peanuts, sauté till done and then add green chilles, garlic, curry leaves. Add turmeric powder and salt. In a wide deep bottomed dish, take the puffed rice and add the prepared tempering and mix well. Puffed rice mixture is ready.

For the Vegetable mix:
Mix the shredded carrot, one shredded radish and chopped cilantro. Keep it aside.

Now place the sliced tomato pieces in a plate and glaze the tomato with green chutney.

Now sprinkle some chilli powder, salt and chaat masala. Now add the vegetable mix (Carrot, radish and cilantro)

Once you add the vegetable mix, add puffed rice mix.

Make sure you add the puffed rice just before serving so that it doesn’t become soggy.

Enjoy this yummy snack with a hot cup of tea and a good company 🙂

*Notes:
-You can use plain puffed rice instead of the mix but the mix makes a difference.
-Shredded radish is optional. if you like the rawness of radish then i would recommend you to use it.
