Savory cookies/Khaara Biscuit

Savory cookies is a favorite  snack to munch on during tea time. A hot cup of chai with a spicy cookie is a pleasure altogether.

Winters always reminds us of spicy and hot foods – soups or chaats or spicy munchies to go with the evening chai/coffee.

Today’s recipe is one such munchie – Savory Cookies or Khaara Biscuit (Khaara means spicy in Kannada).

Here is the recipe for the same:

RECIPE:

PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes

BAKING TIME: 25 minutes

MAKES: 12-15 cookies

INGREDIENTS:

All Purpose Flour – 1 cup

Green chillies – 3 to 4 – Chopped finely

Curry Leaves – few

Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp

Ajwain – 1/2 tsp

Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

Butter – 1/4 cup or 4 tbsp

Yogurt/curd – 2 tbsp

Sugar – 1 tsp

Salt – as per taste

METHOD:

Preheat the oven at 400ºF. And line a baking tray with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, add melted butter, chopped green chillies, curry leaves, yogurt, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix Well.

Now add the all purpose flour.

Knead well to form a soft, pliable dough.

Roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness and make cookie shapes using a cookie cutter OR

Take small portions of the dough and flatten them to make cookies.

Bake at 400ºF for 25 minutes or bake till done.

Serve with a hot cup of chai.

  1. Hi.., u have said that butter that is used for this is 1/4 tbsp… Is it 1/4 tbsp or 1/4 th cup..?
    If it’s 1/4 tbsp can u jus attach the pic of the spoon that u have used…
