A Date(s) with Avocado

Yes ! A date with Avocados 😉 A yummy dish which can be served as a simple smoothie or you could use all your creativity to present it as an exotic dessert.

This recipe is an inspiration from a very dear friend. She had prepared an Avocado smoothie during our girl’s meetup. I totally fell in love with the flavors of this dish and asked her for the recipe. I tweaked the recipe a bit, but the core ingredient remains the same. Thanks Akshatha for sharing this fantastic recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

To Blend:

Avocados – 2 nos

Dates – 8 to 10 – soak in half cup milk for 10 to 15 mins

Milk – 2 to 3 cups (adjust as per the consistency required)

Honey – 1 tbsp (optional)

Saffron – 1 tsp

For the layering/topping and presentation:

Chocolate wafers

Dried berries – a cup

Chopped nuts – I used almonds, walnuts, and cashews

Vanilla ice cream

Method:

Blend Everything under ‘to blend’ into smoothie texture or a little thicker if you intend to use it as a dessert.

Take a clear glass and use all your creativity for presentation. You can serve it as an everyday smoothie or make it look like an exotic dessert.

Below are two different ways of presenting this dessert. Pick the type which appeals you the most.

Type 1: Presentation

Sprinkle some crushed choco wafers at the bottom of the glass. Top it with the avocado smoothie and then add some chopped nuts. Now add a scoop or a tablespoon of vanilla ice cream. Hoist a pirouette stick on the side.

Type 2: Presentation

Add some dried berries at the bottom of the glass. Top it with the avocado smoothie. Add a scoop of Vanilla ice cream and sprinkle some nuts on top. Place a small raspberry on top.

Have a sweet time with this guilt-free (if you omit the ice cream) dessert !

* You can also use vanilla ice cream instead of milk while blending.

* Check the sweetness before adding honey since dates give the required sweetness to the smoothie.

  1. Hi, I made this and my husband also loved it (who btw doesn’t like both avocado and dates). Just wanted to know, if the color will change if prepared in advance for serving this to guests.

Thanks again for posting a wonderful and easy recipe 🙂

    1. Hey Deepa, glad that you loved the recipe 🙂 you can make it in advance and keep in the fridge… The color doesn’t change too much… When you take it out from the fridge, give it a good mix and add little milk if needed and it will be good to serve 🙂 hope this helps !
